New HSBC Account Bonuses

HSBC has added a couple of Account Opening Bonuses for their Checking and Savings accounts.

HSBC is offering some new account bonuses.

Get $50 when you open a Premium Money Market Plus Savings Account with a qualifying deposit. To qualify for $50, you must open a Premium Money Market Plus Savings Account with an initial deposit of $1,500 of new money by 7/31/08. Their is a tiered interest rate on this account with the lowest being .20% for balances less than $15,000.

get $25 when you open a Regular Savings Account with a qualifying deposit and sign up for automatic transfer. To qualify for the $25, you must open a Regular Savings Account with an initial deposit of $500 of new money by 7/31/08. The current interest rate on this account is 0.10% for balances greater than $100.

Unless you are putting millions into these accounts (why would you want to), the interest rate is pretty pathetic. Just open these accounts for the bonuses. Not sure why they are promoting these accounts since their Online Savings Account is getting 3.5% APY right now. I guess they are banking on the fact that people don’t know about it.

$200 Bonus for For Free Checking at Metropolitan National Bank

Metropolitan National Bank is giving a $200 bonus when opening a Free Checking account and establishing direct deposit. This account is open to anyone anywhere even though MNB only as branches in New York.

The account must remain open with a monthly direct deposit of $500 for six months.The direct deposit MUST be from a payroll of governement source. Paypal or doing an ACH from another bank will not suffice.

The “Free Personal Checking” account has no minimum balance requirement and no monthly fees. The account also comes with a free ATM card as well as free online banking and bill pay. Another nice aspect of the account is that there are no ATM fees anywhere. Any ATM fees charged by the ATM will be rebated back to you by MNB.

OneUnited Bank Savings 5.30% APY with $50 Bonus

OneUnited Bank’s Unity Gold Savings Account is still very high (5.30% APY) considering the current Fed rate cuts. Definetly a place worth storing some cash. I imagine if these guys are like every other high yied savings account out there they will drop their rate soon, so get in while it is still high!

You need to open the account with a minimum of $1000 as well as keep the balance at $1000 or greater to earn the 5.30% APY. Their site does not say what rate, if any, you will receive for a balance less than $1000.

Currently they are offering a $50 bonus when you open the account and add a direct deposit or recurring deposit into the account. You can use a monthly deposit from ING Direct or Paypal to satisfy the recurring depoist requirement if you do not want to go through the hassle of setting up direct deposit.

Deal Small Print:
Must be a new direct deposit of a payroll, social security check, or other recurring deposit that occurs at least monthly to a consumer account. $50 will be deposited into your account in good standing automatically within 15 days after a new recurring direct deposit occurs over three consecutive months OR 20 OneUnited Bank Visa Debit card transactions per month occurs over three consecutive months. Wachovia Bank is offering a free $50 when you open a free checking account with a minimum of $100. You need to go into a branch to open this account by January 31st. Print a copy of the deal page and take it with you.

The best part of this deal is that they do not require direct deposit on this account to get the bonus. So just open with $100 and collect your 50% interest!
