Free Trading Friday In Your Tradeking Account

August 10, 2011

If you currently have a Tradeking account, they are having a customer appreciation promotion where any trade you make on Friday August 12 will be free. Per the small print in the email I was just sent…

No commissions will be charged for trades executed on 8/12/2011. Includes stock trades, option trades, fixed income and no-load mutual fund trades. Index option fees and option contracts fees will not be charged. Regulatory fees and Foreign settlement fees will still apply.

The email also goes on to mention that you will see the trade as normal (with commission added) on Friday, but on Saturday you will see that trade with the commission waived. So don’t worry until Saturday if you still don’t see the commissions waived.

This is obviously in response to the market volatility in the past few days, unfortunately if you are like me, all your money is tied up in stocks that have lost about 20% of their value. But if you are one of the lucky ones with some money to buy and an active Tradeking account, Friday could be a great day for you!

Unfortunately this is only available for current Tradeking account holders, but if you are interested in their $100 bonus promotion for new accounts, take a look at the Tradeking Promotion page for more details.

Tradeking $100 Bonus Promotion

August 1, 2011

tradeking promo
NOTE: This bonus has expired. Please see the Tradeking Promotions page for the latest information.

If you were holding out for that $100 Tradeking Promo, you don’t have to wait any longer it is back. All you need to do is the following:

  • Open a new account using the following link:
  • Fund the account with at least $2500 within 30 days of opening the account
  • Execute three trades within 180 days of account opening

For those of you that are not familiar with Tradeking, they offer a flat $4.95 commission on stocks and options. Tradeking was founded in 2005 by the founders of Suretrade.com which was eventually sold to TDAmeritrade. All accounts are SIPC protected, so you can be sure that your money is safe.

I’ve had a Tradeking account since 2006 and use it as my primary trading account. Why spend $10 or more for a stock commission with the other guys when Tradeking offers the same service for half as much! There are no account minimums or inactivity fees. (note that in this special case to qualify for the Tradeking Promotion there is a $2500 minimum to get the free $100 but once the 6 months is up, there is no minimum balance). Check out my Tradeking Review for an indepth review of their service.

Some other cool features they offer is an ACH feature where you can move money in and out of your linked checking account. There is also a money market sweep that invests your uninvested money in a money market account that earns interest. They also offer loads of educational material to help you understand the basics of investing with stocks and options in case you are just starting out. I learned how to trade options with Tradeking very quickly using their helpful training tools. You can also send them any paper stock certificates you have to them and they will add them to your account for free. I had to use this feature once with a stock purchase plan I had for a company I worked at. It was a very simple process and I was able to trade those stocks electronically in less than 2 weeks.

You can also take a look at out Tradeking Promotions page to see all the active Tradeking Bonus items that are going on now.

July 5, 2011

Optionshouse has a refer a friend promotion going on now where you can get a $150 bonus or 30 free trades when you refer a friend to them. If you don’t have an account currently, complete the referral form below, and I will get you a referral so you can start earning some cash.

You have the option to get paid via Paypal, Amazon.com giftcard or donate that money to the red cross. All you have to do is select the link below, give them your name and email, then start referring. It will then ask you to set a password for your account. To qualify for a referral your friend needs to open an Optionshouse account within 3 months of the referral email date. They need to fund the account with at least $1000 for a cash account or $2000 for a margin account. You should receive the $150 bonus within 60 days of your friend funding their account. If you choose the 30 free trades, they are good within 6 months of your friend funding his account.

If you trade a lot, 30 free trades in 6 months is a great deal, however if you can refer a bunch of people, then getting $150 per person is an even better deal! It is totally your choice on how you want to do this. I have an Optionshouse account and use it primarily for options, they have a really cool interface that allows you to see everything in one place. But even though they are great with options, don’t discount their $3.95 commission for stock purchases, they are one of the lowest in the industry and have great execution times.

If you already have an account, to get 30 Free Trades or $150 When you Recommend OptionsHouse.com to Your Friends.

If you want to sign up for an Optionshouse account complete the form below and I will get a referral out to you.

July 2, 2011

After a pretty dry spell for credit card bonuses, Chase has working hard on coming up with great sign up bonuses on their credit cards. Here is another one I just found. When you open a new Chase Freedom Visa credit card, you can receive a $200 cash back once you open a new account. All you need to do is spend $500 within the first three months. This is an $50 improvement from their $150 bonuis that was out earlier. That should be pretty easy to do if you charge your utilities, groceries and gas for a few months.

Along with the great bonus, the Chase Freedom Visa is also a cash rewards card. You earn 5% cash back based on quartly rotating categories. You also earn 1% on everything else that you buy using the card.

There is no annaul fee with this card.

See more details on the Chase Freedom Visa on their promo page.

Ally Bank Launches New Products Including IRA

June 21, 2011

Earlier this week, Ally.com launched a few new banking products to compliment their high interest savings & checking accounts.

  • 4-Year Raise Your Rate CD – This new CD allows you to raise your rate two times during the 4 year period. They also offer a 2 year raise your rate CD, but the 4 year will get you a better rate if you can part with your money for longer
  • Ally Perks – This is Ally’s new debit card rewards program. It requires their interest checking account which after making qualifying purchases will get you cash added bank into your checking account.
  • Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) – What is nice about their IRA is that you can put your money into CD’s and an Online Savings account to earn a little higher rate. If you are having doubts about investing in todays current market, their IRA product might make sense for you

I have been very impressed with Ally and how they keep improving thier product line. Most banks just keep the same old formula and wonder why they lose customers. The nice thing about Ally is that most of their accounts cost nothing to open had hold. In an economy where the big banks like Chase and Bank of America are adding fees and reducing their free product lines, it is refreshing to see banks like Ally are still being very competitive.
