I have never used these guys so I can’t comment on service. And although they don’t have the lowest commisions of places like Tradeking.com or Firstrade.com, earning 20% on that $500 in a few weeks isn’t too shabby!!

I personally use Sharebuilder. I mainly use it for a long term investing account. I buy partial shares of 10 ETF’s four times a week. My goal with this account is to dollar cost average while the market is correcting itself. I just set this and forget it. I consider this nest egg fund to use later, possible for kid’s college education. Their setup makes it very easy to invest and not have to think about it. I definetly recommend it if you are just a begining investor!!

100 Free Trades a Year With Wells Fargo Investments

Here is a promotion that has been out there for a while, but I thought I would mention it since I haven’t yet. Wells Fargo Investments will give you 100 Commission Free Equity Trades per year if you have $25,000 in brokerage, loan balances or deposits with them. You need to open a Wells Fargo PMA Package which includes a checking account and brokerage account. As long as you keep your checking account linked to your brokerage account, there are no checking fees. And assuming you meet the $25,000 balance requirement there are no fees for the brokerage account either.

Wells Fargo accounts used for balance qualification include checking, savings, time accounts (CDs), retirement (IRAs), brokerage, trust (excluding irrevocable trusts), loans, outstanding credit cards and line of credit balances, and 10% of an outstanding mortgage balance .

This promo works great if you have a mortgage with Wells Fargo. Say for example your outstanding mortgage loan is $275,000. So 10% of $275,000 is $27,000. You have just satisfied the $25,000 requirement for the free trades.

 The checking account comes with free checks, debit card and pays tiered interest on your balance. There is also an electronic transfer feature that allows you to transfer money between the checking account and brokerage account.

 If you have $25,000 in deposits or a mortgage, or a combination that gets you to $25,000, this is a totally free investing solution. You figure with 100 free trades per year you get 8 free trades per month. This is pretty good for someone investing over time as you are buying stock at cost. If you are a day trader, this probably isn’t a good fit for you.

$100 Bonus from Fidelity Brokerage

Ok guys, this bonus is not for the faint at heart! It requires you to have 10k laying around. So why not sell that car you no longer need. Seriousy, if you have 10 grand sitting around in a bank account, Fidelity is willing to give you $100 if you open a Brokerage account with it.
Sure, you say that receiving $100 on $10,000 is only 1%? Well yes, but that is 1% earnings for only 7 days. Most savings account will pay 1% for the whole year if that.

This works if you are opening a new Brokerage account, or if you currently have one with them. Ok, if you are still with me, here is what you need to do:

• Complete the $100 Bonus Form
• If you currently have an account, enter your account number on the form. Then go to your account and deposit the 10k.
• If you do not have an account, complete the account opening form and deposit your 10k.
• Once the deposit clears (in about 5-7 days) you should receive and email and see the $100 bonus in your account.

Once this process is complete, you can then decide if you want to keep the money at Fidelity in their 3.6% money market (FSLXX) or purchase stocks or mutual funds. This is a great account since purchasing of all Fidelity Branded Mutual Funds commission free. I know this takes a bit of time, but for $100 in 5 days, I would do just about anything, well almost anything!

Again, I can not say anything bad about Fidelity. All my retirement accounts are currently with them and I am actually doing well despite the rocky market!

TradeKing $100 New Account Bonus

TradeKing’s is giving out a $100 bonus when opening a new account. Here is the skinny:

• New accounts must be opened and funded with $2,500
• A minimum balance of $1,000 is required in the account for the first six months
• Must Make 1 Trade in your account
• Bonus paid up to 180 days after executed trade

If this is like the last TradeKing Promo, you will see the $100 bonus paid in less than a week after your first trade, rather then the “up to 180 days” There is no expiration date on this so I imagine it could disappear at any time. So jump on this one before it is gone!

I have an account with Tradeking and use it to by indivuidal stocks. It works well since the commissions are only $4.95 per trade. Plus there is an ACH feature to easily move money electronically in and out of your account.

I do long term buy and hold with my ShareBuilder Account, since Sharebuilder makes it very simple to auto invest over time. I wish Tradeking had that option!
