$220 Bonus from Bank of America Checking
August 31, 2010
If you are a current Bank of America credit card holder, then you are in luck! You can get up to a $220 bonus when you open a new checking account with them.
Here is how it works. You must open a new person checking account online by 12/4/2010 using the offer code: CHC220OL. You can open their free MyAccess Checking account to qualify for this promo. There are no fees on this account when you set up direct deposit. Since that is a requirement to get the $100 part of the bonus, this shouldn’t be an issue.
Once you establish direct deposit, you will receive a $100 statement credit. You must get the direct deposit going within the first 3 months of your account opening.
The rest of the bonus ($120) is paid out $20 increments when you pay your Bank of America Credit Card from your new checking account. You will receive $20 / month for 6 months each time you make that payment.
Your statement credit(s) will be applied to your credit card account within 60 days after the date of each qualifying transaction, provided that both your credit card and checking accounts are open and in good standing.
A $220 bonus is one of the larger bank bonuses that I have seen in a long time. If you are a current Bank of America credit card holder, then you should definitely jump in on this one.
Take a look at the Bank of America Promo page for more details!
Capital One Interest Online Checking
August 26, 2010
Capital One Bank is now offering a new checking account product called Interest Online Checking. The current rate is 1.10%. And this is not a tiered rate, meaning you will earn 1.10% on your balance regardless of what it is.
Some features of the online account are:
- No fees or minimum balance requirements
- First order of paper checks is free
- Free Online bill pay and online banking
- Free MasterCard Debit Card to access your funds
- Your ATM Fees will be reimbursed up to $10 each month
- ACH Transfer between you Capital One Checking and your existing bank
It appears that this account is available in areas that do not have physical branches. Their branches are mainly located in New York and Texas, so it is safe to assume that it should be available in most areas. It asks you for a zip code prior to allowing you to open the account, so you will know for sure right away.
Once you add in the $10 ATM reimbursement and a non-tiered interest rate, this account seems pretty competitive with the likes of Ally Bank and ING Direct’s checking account products. It also is nice that they offer paper checks. ING Direct’s electric orange checking does not allow for paper checks, so if actually having a checkbook is important to you, then you may consider opening an account here.
There is no capital one promo code for this account, but with all the features and it being a completely free account that earns interest, I think the account pretty much speaks for itself.
Checkout Capital One’s Interest Online Checking page for more details and to appy.
Tradeking $50 Bonus Ends August 31st
August 23, 2010
EDIT: This promotion has ended. Their latest promo can be found HERE.
If you are looking to open a new brokerage account and get a free $50 along with it, then don’t forget that the current Tradeking Promotion is scheduled to end at the end of this month.
When you open a new brokerage account with Tradeking, fund the account with $2500 and execute one trade, you will receive a $50 bonus credited to your account. This bonus can be used to purchase more stock or to cover future trading commissions. Since Tradeking only charges $4.95 per trades, that is essentially 10 free stock trades that you can get.
Since the stock market is down from its highs, now is definitely a good time to get in and start investing. A lot of folks tend to shy away from investing when the market is down, but they are also the ones that lose out on the cheap buying opportunities.
See the Tradeking Bonus page for more details on this offer and how to sign up.
Another Woot Off In Progress!
August 20, 2010

Woot.com is having another of its Woot Offs right now. It started around midnight central time and will go until they run out of stuff. If you are unfamiliar with Woot.com, they are a site that offers items at a discount. Usually only one item is listed per day starting at 12am Central Time and is listed until it is sold out or 11:59PM Central Time.
A Woot Off, which happens rarely, is a number of products that are for sale on a particular day or successive days. One product follows another as soon as it has been sold out. The number of Woot-Off items, sequence, and quantity will not be announced so an item could take a while to sell out or sell out immediately. Don’t miss a chance to score some items at a steal if you have some money to blow! But remember, that I prefer you really think about saving it.

August 12, 2010
ING Direct is one again offering a $50 bonus when you open a new Electric Orange Checking Account.
To qualify for the bonus, all you need to do is open an account, activate your Electric Orange Debit MasterCard and use it to make at least 3 signature-based purchases within 45 days of account opening. Once this is completed, your $50 bonus will automatically be deposited into your account on day 50.
ING’s Electric Orange Checking Accountis exactly what is says, a checking account without paper, meaning you don’t get a checkbook. You can pay bills online and even have a paper check mailed, but it is all initiated from your online account. All statements are paper and you get a debit card that you can use at ATM’s or anywhere Mastercard is accepted.
You also can link your current bank accounts to your Electric Checking account that allows you to easily move money in and out of your account. The account also pays some interest on your balances. The interest amount is based on the amount of money you hold in the account.
If you are in the market for an online checking account, if you can get by without a checkbook, then this may be an option for you.
