The IRS has released a new tool that lets you check on the status of your 2008 tax rebate. For those of you that thought you should have received your rebate but didn’t, you definitely need to try this.

You will need three things from your tax return to use this tool:
- Your Social Security Number
- Your Filing Status
- The number of Exemptions (Note: This is not the number of deductions)
Make sure you are accurate with these as I noticed that incorrectly putting in the number of exemptions on mine yielded an error. So if you get an error, double check a copy of the return you submitted.
Note that specific information about your Stimulus Payment will not be available until about one week before the payment is scheduled to be issued.
However if you think you should have already received yours based on the payment schedule, this tool should help.

Thank you! I work at the bank and I wish I had just a penny for every time someone called asking where their checks are. I gave all my tellers a copy of the list and told them for any other questions go to the irs website.
I think that low income people should get this money also…. I toke time off to continue my education and only made $2,000.00 dollars so I don’t get a check which is very unfair. I had to pay in but, got no refund or stimulus rebate check. Guess, I should have not continued my education? Had to live in the housing project on food stamps and with no medical insurance or medical care to try to better myself. I got my real estate licenses and now the market is dried up. Back to my old job I go. Broke and watching everyone else spend a tax refund money and a stimulus check. Before you get upset with me and what I am saying trying living on $2,000.00 and try living in the housing project or on food stamps with no medical care of any kind…… for a year. Yes, it was my choice to continue my education and live with the conditions I did and I am use to paying taxes I have mailed a lot of checks to IRS even when my (now grown) child was at home. Just can’t win for losing. Good day!
My husband received his paper check on May 12 and I haven’t received anything. We don’t file jointly and I filed the first of January and had direct deposit for my refund then and I still haven’t received my rebate. What are the qualifications, maybe I won’t received one!

I have been waiting for this check for a while now. My parents claimed me as a dependent for the year 06-07 but not 07-08 and I found out today I am not eligible for a refund because I was claimed 2 years ago.
Based on the last 2 digits of my social I should have recieved my stimulus by now; however, no check has been deposited and a number to call was not provided. Once again our gov is screwed up
I helped people file their forms and mine went in the mail april 14th and i still have not recieved anything and can only tell individuals what’s on the web site. It make you not want to do volunteer work.
According to my SS# my deposit date should have been the 19th. However I am still waiting. Does anyone have a # to contact for information?
Dan. You said you were filed as a dependent two years ago, and found out that your not getting a check this year. Where did you find this out? I was claimed as a dependent back in 06-07, but not this year. If that’s the case, and we don’t get checks because of it, I have some choice words. As Vickie noted, I’m a volunteer as well, so I guess I’m stacking the odds against getting a rebate. Insert more colorful words here.
As soon as I found out about the checks we were gonna get I kept checking my account. I still have not recieved it , my husband and I filed our taxes had it direct deposit back in january, according to our ss# it should of been in our account by now. I tried to call the # and of course I never got a real person on the line , so I am still waiting to see if and when our check will come.
I spoke to the IRS today – I mailed my taxes in on April 15th – they haven’t even processed my return (but they did cash my check) – turns out, since I PAID taxes on my return – I am last on the list, they process returns first, when people are due a refund – would have been nice to know that the schedule doesn’t count for people who owed money. – I was counting on the rebate to offset what I had to pay. – TO EVERYBODY – IF YOU PAID MONEY ON YOUR RETURN, CHANCES ARE THEY HAVEN’T EVEN PROCESSED IT YET.
To All the People:
Think of this money as a gift. You weren’t expecting it until it was mention. Yes, the government promised it, but really people. We are talking about the government.
I would start worrying about it a month after the fact and stop spending the money before you have it.
To let you all know, I didn’t receive mine yet and it has been only a few days.

I’d like to know why i haven’t gotten any information about this?
I am on ssi and I think it is unfair for me not to be able to get a rebate check from the irs.I have to live in with my sister because I can’t afford to live on my own on 637.oo a month .I have enough money to get through the month and I don’t think it is right for some to get the stimlus check that don’t file and others can’t because there on ssi or other programs that don’t get it.My sister puts my name on her tax retuirn but I haven’t got a check in the mail in my name but my sister get direct deposit and already received hers.But I don’t know if I will be geting a check in my name in the mail because I am on ssi and I was not claim as my sister depentent on her tax return.I don’t think it is fair because the ones that don’t work or can’t because of there disabilty ,they our still tax payer in other ways. This is my opionion on this subject.
E-FILEDmy taxes with you guys anddirect deposited it but on the stimulos dated i am supposed to recieve my rebate by saturday which is today so whats the problem?
