Free $100 Gift Card from Citi Professional Mastercard

March 6, 2008

Citi Professional Card
Citibank is offering a $100 Giftcard for signing up for a new Citi Profssional Credit Card. After you make your first purchase you will be awarded 10,000 thank you points which can be redeemed for a $100 gift card or other items.

What makes this card so enticing is the 9 month balance transfer at 0%. Most cards now have a balance transfer fee but this one doesn’t if you apply with the card using this offer. Citibank lets you receive a check for the balance transfer amount which you could put into a high interest savings account until the 0% expires. If you are planning on doing this, make sure your purchase (to get the 10,000 thank you points) is for a very small amount, then do the balance transfer. The reason for this is that purchases sit behind the balance transfer earning interest at the purchase rate. So if you balance transfer $10,000 and make a purchase for $100. That $100 will keep earninig interest until the $10,000 is paid off, so the smaller purchase amount the better!

There is no annual fee for this card.

Update: See cardoffer’s comment below about getting an additional 5000 points when signing up.

actually, you can get 15,000 thankyou points from this card. You have to go to citicards.com and then click the citi professional card with thankyou network. Click “apply” and then close the application page. There will be a small window pop up which will offer 5,000 more points. You must have to enable your “pop up”. just my 2 cents
